WORKING HISTORY
First Overseas Contract:
Roberts Construction Civil Engineers.
C/o Moore and Stephensons Chartered Accountants, Bucklesbury
House, Bucklesbury, London.
Engaged on electrical installations
in Bloemfontain Orange Free State on contracts for Dunlop,
Coca-Cola, Carlton Hotel Group, S.A.B.C. stations.
During the five year contract,
part of my contract was on Hydro Electric Stations (installation
at the Cobora Bassa Project in Mozambique). The Hendrick Veervodt
Dam and Fish Water Tunnel Project to supply water from Natal
province to the Free State and the Kalahari Desert in conjunction
with this project we crossed over to South West Africa to
Oshakati to project the Recarno Falls Dam Hydro Scheme on
the border of South West Africa and Angola for the Orange
River Project incorporating both British, French and Italian
Civil Engineers.
On
returning to the UK I was engaged on a new contract with B.
French Electrical Engineers Kidderminster. This was to work
on large electrical projects at Pilkington Bros. Glass Plant
in St Helens and the Design Laboratory at Lathorn plus the
Fibre Glass Plant and UK 5 Greengate Computerised Plant St.
Helens. Two years of this contract were spent working on the
Science Research Council at Harwell site installation in Berkshire,
controlling part of the injector which proved to have been
an interesting project to be involved with.
After
moving to reside in Warrington Cheshire, I took a contract
with A.Monk & Co. Civil Engineers at Padgate and was responsible
for the electrical installation and maintenance of Monk Concrete
Structures. This involved projects such as the construction
of the Daresbury Tower, Lower Newton Jail, County Durham and
Warrington Golden Square Project plus various motorway projects
in and around Milton Keynes and Birmingham.
Having a need to be closer
to home base I signed a contract for Claremont Business Systems,
Birchwood and embarked on a new stage of computer and data
installations ie Digital, IBM, Prime and ICL for customers
such as National Westminster Bank, Stewart Wrightsons Insurance,
Glasgow and the CIS Manchester together with the related electrical
installations which enabled George Arnold Electrical Ltd to
come together with a new contract with DCD Communications
Ltd.
